Foreign Aid

I’ve mentioned previously that foreign aid given to governments over the long term has a diminished effect, as the gift becomes an entitlement over time, and the behavior our government wants, from the government receiving the gift, isn’t necessarily enforced.

The Daily Demarche takes this one further, and says that either the effect is weak, or is opposite to what we want. There’s a part 3 coming to the series, good links to further reading, and some lively comments. I’ll need to process those before I can get my own comments, but the Demarche analysis-in-progress is well worth a look.
