It’s The Valour-IT Drive!
Chaotic Synaptic has the gouge. Donations are graciously being accepted for Valour-IT. Here’s how it works: If’n you serve and can’t type, it sucks to try to blog. Or email the family. Et cetera. These guys buy and build laptops that can help do the job, and give them to injured servicemembers in the military hospitals.
And we’re starting behind the curve…even SMASH is blank right now! I suspect shenanigans. Bubbleheads, help me out here. I’m going to go through the swag pile to look for something useful for donors. An early poster of USS Texas, maybe? A ball cap? Anyone able to help me make an auction for something like that?
So. I’d better put the donation button here so I can donate. See that thermometer on the right, there? Give it a click.

We Support our Troops…
Usually found as part of a yellow ribbon magnet on the back of the duty minivan/SUV…well folks, here’s chance to put some meat behind those words. Between now and 11 Nov, the MilBlogging community is soliciting/gathering funds for the Valour-IT pro….

Let me dig around; I think I might have a commemorative coin from USS Seawolf’s Alpha Trials around here somewhere; only people who were on the 21′s Alpha trials got them. I’m sure someone would donate a few bucks to Valour-IT to get ahold of that little piece of history…

Hold off on advertising the Seawolf Alpha Trials coin; I think it’s buried somewhere in the garage, so I’ll look for it this weekend. I did find a Seawolf commissioning coin and a USS Connecticut christening patch, though, so you can throw them into the mix.

Flightdeck Friday: Fight’s On –…
Mike over at No Angst Zone has picked up the gauntlet and dares to think the Junior Service can prevail. Ha! He even tries to resurrect that phony test off VA Capes….

Chap,
I have several color copies of the Kings Bay Centennial Birthday Ball program, a 72 page color book, 8.5×11″ with a history of the Submarine Force on every page. Tell me how many you want, and I’ll send them to you whenever I can. Up to 30 is no problem. Send an address if you want a quicklook, but I’m traveling again this week, so might take me a while to respond. When do the Valor IT donations end?

Sir,
It’s pretty easy to sign up new items at the Navy page–you have to register and then enter an item for sale, but that’s it. I think the drive ends Memorial Day.
If you’d like I could do that tomorrow after work once I get done with this other thing…

I have donated copies of both my books for auction:
“Marines in the Garden of Eden”
and
“The Gulf War Chronicles”
The books are being auctioned for the general fund. Proceeds go to Valour-IT but will not be credited to any service team, since I served in the Navy, I wrote about Marines and soldiers, and I was solicited by the Air Force team.
Details on the auction can be obtained at op-for.com
