Mixed Feelings

Buddy of mine from back in the day was in a similar situation as me careerwise. He did well, found a good spot to be and got promoted where many others did not. We just got word that he’s off to the ’stan.

I am glad for his chance to be in the fray and do well, and know his skill sets will fit the task. I’m sad he’s got to deploy by himself away from his family after so much of his career was deployed at sea. I’d love to have the chance to do what he is about to do–but volunteering doesn’t help in my situation, apparently, and I’ll have a chance later on in a couple of years after moldering on shore for a while.

Good luck, shipmate. Wish it was me; know you’ll do great. Bring me back some Alokozay

Update: Maybe he can tell me if this list is useful.

I’ve a 1st cousin, reserve JG “booger eater”, off to same place. He’s a professional political type who lost his ride last November when this “opportunity” came up he couldn’t refuse (240 days). Timely for him!

Good gouge list Chap. Info he can use. I expect many sitreps. Don’t know if he’s a tea drinker but I’ll ask.

The ’stan is a great mission and a great cause. The training pipeline can be a real challenge to one’s patience.

Is he doing the Navy PRT mission or another?

Looks like a staffie mission doing something interesting, and he’s already in theater.

Man, it makes me frustrated I’m sitting here at a comfy desk far away from useful work…

J/N-2 type. 1600 something (if it ain’t 1310 I don’t know anything else). Was a pro staffer (R) until recently. NCAA athlete. Moving through the

pipeline now. He’s recently made the “global”. Well educated from Ivy on his way to Doctorate (PolySci/Strategic blah-blah). Has a modest portfolio of op-eds. Far East his bag.

IMO, it’s ’bout time he has something significant on his resume!

Has the gouge list above! Thanks!
