I had not previously thought of yesterday’s Peters piece as being what Barnett makes of it, but Barnett brings a good point up about it. For the uninitiated I’m talking about stuff like this:
My instincts tell me our long-term problem is with Arab Sunnis, whose global aspirations have veered into madness. We have a problem with the junta currently ruling Iran, but not with Persian civilization. Meanwhile, the Bedouin fanaticism gripping so much of the Middle East has no civilization.
I can understand that characterization.
Unless, of course, there’s a NUDET in Haifa. Which might complicate things a bit.
