But It’s All About What They Want!
In regards to this post of mine about Edwards calling for protests at Memorial Day parades, I see similar themes to mine come up a couple of times in the comments and body of this post at Protein Wisdom.
This is another anecdotal support for my corollary to Godwin’s Law, by the way.
I give my comrade Major John the mike, as he wrote the following in response to folks who don’t understand what all the fuss is about.
The whole point of the post is that a Presidential candidate is willing to try and turn a day that SHOULD be about, and ONLY about the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines (and Coastguardsmen – and the WWI and WII Merchant Mariners) who have died in their service. NOTHING else, no #$%& political protests, no @#$% politicking.
Memorial Day is for those who have gone on to their reward while in the performance of duty. To try and take advantage of that day is cheap, wanton and sluttish.
I suppose that Code Pink will be on the corner at Walter Reed this Friday, and Westboro will be at a funeral this week. What a grand tradition that is for joining.
