Why is it…
that the first movie I know of that deals with 9/11 in a somewhat reasonable manner is a kid’s movie on the Disney Channel?

I watched that last night with my 13 year old niece. We actually watched it 2x in a row. I told her I didn’t know how realistic it was since I’d never been on a ship, and wasn’t in the military. But from what I’ve learned from my blog friends I believed the sentiment was very right.
This is the first we’ve talked about it. She lives in Indiana and we don’t get a lot of time together. She brought it up so I took advantage of the situation. She was amazed that I’m so involved and care so much. After we talked thru the first running, her asking questions, me trying to answer – we watched it the second time in complete silence.
Like I mentioned, I didn’t know how realistic it was – I just know it spoke to her on a level that really connected. (Plus I liked it too!)
