Enemies, Foreign And Domestic

Rusty Shackleford at the Jawa Report has been taking an excretion’s site down. And of course now there’s a loving little profile at the NYT of “Inshallahshaheed”:

Unlike Mr. bin Laden, the blogger was not operating from a remote location. It turns out he is a 21-year-old American named Samir Khan who produces his blog from his parents’ home in North Carolina, where he serves as a kind of Western relay station for the multimedia productions of violent Islamic groups.

Okay, these questions are ones I know won’t be answered, but I’ll do it anyway:

  • Why is this enemy supporter not in jail or worse?
  • Why is the NYT spending time on him?
  • Why are his parents supporting him?
  • Who else in NC originally from Saudi Arabia and then Queens should we know about?
  • At what point is the “…and domestic” supposed to kick in here?
  • Why is it that private citizens like those at Jawa have to do this work by themselves?

Instances like this one are reported nationwide. Jailing effectively restricts meaningful surveillance, it is more costly than personal recognizance, and it could be used as a recruiting venue to grow radical Islam’s numbers among society’s misfits and malcontents.

CAIR cannot lament an inordinately high number of Muslim youth incarcerated on trumped up charges. Who cares what CAIR thinks? That’s beyond my pay grade, Shipmate.

In September 1999, The Hart-Rudman Commission “warned that, in the course of the next quarter century, terrorist acts involving weapons of mass destruction were likely to increase. “Americans will likely die on American soil, possibly in large numbers,” it said. What may be comforting are factors limiting this jeopardy to a quarter century. Well, they got 9-11 right.

The U.S. demonstrates only respect for the Muslim faith. The whole world has been exposed to the stoneage flavor of Islam’s radical sects. And the converts are? – Rebellious teenagers and young adults with identity issues. Sounds familiar.

For most, such issues will be outgrown under moderating influences (yes, we deploy them). Perhaps the quarter-century forecast merely considers natural aging the limiting factor. Afterall, our country does not sponsor “radical” Islamic teachings.

The winning strategy is a firm upper hand, frustrating patience and avoidance of “crusade fever” in the weak minded among us. Unfortunately, this strategy has ruled out ever displaying Sammy bin laden’s head on a pointy stick. Just some thoughts, Chap.

    Chap,

I STILL like the way you think son. Hope things are going well for you. Sorry I’ve been so busy for so long.

Remember there is life and lots of it out there to be lived.
