Charles Johnson really does not like David Crosby. Put that way, I can see he has a point…

Yep — he has a point, for sure.

Given that so few Americans can claim a monopoly on the moral upper hand, I wish to hell that Americans on opposite sides of whatever “this is a national issue” they find themselves near (Iraq, Israel, global climate, urban crime, rural crime, drug crime, air pollution, water pollution, Afghanistan, abortion (yes, even abortion), health care, and (the list goes on)” ought declare unilateral cease fires on name-calling, sloganeering, and enemy-labeling — after which they can move toward, “WE have an issue that WE need to deal with and can WE work together in a principled way to move toward a better tomorrow.”

No, I’m not so naive to think that if some do this, everybody will do this. But I sure believe that we’d be making progress if MORE folks started doing this right away.

(And NOW who’s making a useless cry into the void? (heh))

Oh, and if you can get past the fact that it’s from the NYTimes (heh again), here’s an interesting “premium” grilled cheese recipe from a pal in Durham.

Yah, for sure–I’ve found that the simultaneous hardest thing to do right and most beneficial, when working in groups that aren’t monolithic, is to find what’s common and work together to that goal while using successes to build a sense of commonality to get some empathy for the other guy working.

Kind of hard when people are playing the prisoner’s dilemma game when thinking only of short term gains, eh?

Hey, I can usually trust the NYT for things like grilled cheese sandwich recipes. Q&A interviews and reports of who got the Medal of Honor in a borough, not so much.

Gotta go look for the Boomer thingie (coz memory sure ain’t what it used ta be) but I have NO love for Fat David Crosby and few, very few, “fond” memories. If any. Crosby’s an embarrassment to Boomers everywhere…if that’s possible. ;)
